We never considered a career path other than the sea. It is fun!
One afternoon we found so many skipjack tuna hat we managed to load it using a seine. There were so many that once they went in, it was impossible for them to find a way out. A crew member had to plunge into the sea and get the fish out one by one as the animals were dying and falling to the bottom. We landed 1,500 kilos!
We tore our net at the end of the Mogan dock. We had to be towed to loose the entanglement. But the worst part was spending a whole week sewing up having to stay onshore. You learn how to sew by watching others do it.
